Good Evening,

Yes, I said "good evening," because this is going to be a special post about getting "unready" with the ladies of Bluebird and Blackberries.

This week, I am challenging the ladies to get unready, and show us how they get ready for bed every evening—if there's a new routine that they like to do, or what their favorite thing is to do before bed—maybe they don't get to do it very often.

This is just to share with me—and with all of you—how you get unready and wind down for your evening, so you can get a good night's rest, and your beauty sleep, because it's important.

Challenge #69: Tourist In Your Own City

 

I think that sometimes when you live in a city for awhile, you forget all the cool things that you can find and do as a tourist, and especially things that aren't necessarily costly.

One of the great things about Nashville is that there's live music everywhere you go, so you can see a show any time of day, any day of the week.

So I really challenge the girls this week to find budget-friendly things you can do as a tourist in your own city.

Good morning!

So this week, I've challenged the girls to an apple cider vinegar detox.

Working in the restaurant industry most of my life, you kind of go through these highs and lows of eating well and then eating everything in sight that isn't necessarily good for you—and sometimes you just need a reset.

Challenge #66: Camera-Ready Brows

 

Well ladies, I have a new challenge for you.

I’m standing here in my bathroom and realizing that I have an issue.

And that is that as I’m getting older, you can see, my eyebrows are getting more sparse (and don’t pay attention to the fact that I need to wax them as well!).

They’re getting more and more sparse towards the ends, and less filled in the middles as well.

So I just want to know, what are you ladies doing about this? What tips or tricks or things are you doing to keep your brows camera-ready?

Challenge #65: Making + Deepening Friendships

 

Hey Ladies,

So this week I was hoping you could help me with something a little personal, that I feel a lot of people aren’t talking about:

…how to make new friends.

So I recently moved, a lot of my friends have left the city in the last couple of years, I had twins, I’ve been a little out of the game. I’m trying to broaden my circle of friends and meet some people.

And it’s really hard.

I’m also trying to focus on how to make those relationships that I am forming a little bit deeper.

So I’d love to just hear your experiences, tips, techniques, really anything—so we can have this conversation about friends, which I think is a really important one.

So, it is summer…

And that means that it is finally my favorite time to cook—because the farmers markets are just bursting, and you’re able to get local, delicious produce that you can’t get all year round.

However, a couple of people have told me that they don’t like to go to farmers markets because it’s too expensive.

So the challenge this week is to help people maximize the farmers market. You can give us any tips or tricks that you have that will help us come away from the farmers market feeling like we understand the process, we got a good deal, and we didn’t break the bank!

Challenge #63: Air Fryer Recipe

 

Well, hello!

It is that time to come up with a new challenge for Bluebird and Blackberries!

And I am here in my kitchen, and I happen to have borrowed an air fryer from my mom, because I’ve been curious about these things for so long, and I wanted to check it out before I buy one for myself.

I am a person who loves comfort food, and even though we don’t do a lot of meat or dairy, we still love fun foods like everybody else.

So I thought it might be fun to come up with and create a recipe for my daughter—who can’t have dairy, and we don’t do meat. I wanted her to have something like other kids get to have when they go to a ballpark or to an event or a picnic.

For those of you who know me, I love to work out.

Since I’ve had the baby, I don’t have quite as much time to go to the gym as I used to. So I’ve started doing a lot of at-home workouts while the baby is napping. There’s some really great popular ones out there that I’ve been trying out.

Hey Ladies,

Alright, I’m sitting here…I just had dinner…I’m watching TV.

I’m just feeling like I’m in a bit of a dinner rut. Every time I go to make dinner, I’m just tired and it’s late, and I just kind of don’t care enough to really make anything.

I know meal prep is such a “thing” right now, so I’m just wondering what’s behind it…Is it helpful? Do you have to be super organized?

I thought we could all jump into some meal prep this week! Maybe we spend 30 minutes—thirty minutes meal prepping and we see what happens; we see what kind of tips and tricks you might have for everyone. And for me!

Challenge #58: Makeup Brush Cleaning

 

Yay!

It is finally spring, you guys!

And with spring, usually comes spring cleaning…

I thought this week our challenge could be a little bit of a different kind of “spring cleaning.”

Something that I realized recently that I have neglected is my makeup brushes. I only started really wearing makeup in the last year or two a little more frequently, and I’ve realized that’s an area where I needed help with the spring cleaning.

So I am taking on the challenge of figuring out a really good way to keep these makeup brushes clean—which, in turn, will keep my skin clean!

I am one that likes to use lots of oils, so I have rose hip oil, I have a glow oil that I like to use, and sometimes even sweet almond oil. I use those for oil cleansing or just moisturizing, and they can all really “gunk up” my brushes!

That’s why I wanted to take on this challenge and figure out how to get those brushes clean!

Hey Ladies!

Can you believe how many people now have pressure cookers?! It’s kinda crazy.

I mean, I never had one before, but everyone kept talking about it, so I got a Ninja Foodi. It’s a pressure cooker and an air fryer, but it works just like the Instant Pot that a lot of people are using—hey, maybe better?

So I thought we could all dive into some pressure cooking! I’m just getting familiar with it...

Hey Ladies!

It is so cold out! The other day Damaris and I were looking at Kelsey Nixon’s Homemade Thai Coconut Ramen on her site. It looked so good!

What is it about ramen that just warms your belly?!

What we loved about Kelsey’s recipe is that it was really, really simple, but still really special.

So here’s what I’m thinking—we all do some ramen dishes this week. You can go as fancy or as not-fancy as you want as long as it’s done in 20 minutes or less. Quick and easy!

Cannot wait to see what you guys come up with. I can always use more ramen recipes!

I think I’m gonna go a little old school—back to the package for mine.
