Challenge #48: Upcycled Winter Wreath

Well guess what, ladies?

I’m about to start my holiday decorating and I just realized that I do not have a holiday wreath. I have this mangy old autumnal wreath that is kind of scary—like a witch!

But I don’t have a holiday wreath, and so here’s what I’m thinking—what if we turned something old into something new again?

Upcycled style. Wreath. How ‘bout it?

I know I’ve got some stuff that I can transform into a holiday wreath that would have otherwise been garbage. So, I’m challenging you to do the same. Let’s see what we come up with!

Alright, that’s the challenge. Can’t wait to see what you do. Goodbye!

Challenge #39: Vacation Accessories

Well hello, ladies!

It is almost the end of summer and we all have a couple of those last-minute vacations comin’ our way.

And so here’s my thought—whenever I go on vacation, I end up buying about a billion things, because for whatever reason, I think that I need new clothes and new accessories to go on vacation.

But how about this year, we try to up-cycle some things that we already have. So, I know I need a sun hat. I have a straw hat that’s not very cute—can I turn it into something that is vacation-worthy?

Or maybe a new cover-up? Can I make a cover-up? I don’t know.

I’m gonna try, and that’s what I’m asking you all to do. Can you make a vacation accessory out of something you already own?

Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Good luck, and happy vacationing!

Bye y’all!

Challenge #25: Donating Clothes That Make a Difference

Hey Ladies,

So here’s what I’m thinking...I was just looking at my room and there’s always a pile that I have for donating—everything from clothes to housewares, to whatever.

I kind of feel like whenever I donate stuff, I don’t really know what happens to it and I’m kind of afraid that half of it’s getting thrown out.

So I thought maybe we could donate to a more specific purpose. I just saw online that there’s a place you can donate prom dresses. I know that there’s some places where you can donate work-specific items—things for people to use in the workplace or for job interviews.

I thought it would kind of be cool if, instead of putting everything into a donation pile and hoping for the best, we could really thoughtfully go through our closets and see if there’s some items that we have that we’re willing to part with that could actually make a difference to somebody else.

Maybe we could do a little bit more with our donating and learn a little bit more about what’s out there, too.

Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! I gotta figure out what I’m gonna come up with, and I’ll see you guys later!

Challenge #16 - Upcycled Coat

Hi Guys!

So I’m here in Nashville and it’s cold and snowing—which seems like the perfect weather to challenge the girls this week to refurb an old coat that has lost its luster a little bit—and bring a little bit of new life back into it.

Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! So excited!

Happy Snow Day! Bye!

Challenge #6: It's Rented

Green Dress 1.jpg

I am really over my closet as of late! I can never find things that seem to flatter or even really fit my current style. Because of this, I think it would be fun to branch out and find different ways of shopping and updating my wardrobe without breaking the bank.

That’s why this week’s challenge is to try out a clothing rental site. Or to swap or sell (or whatever else works!) your wardrobe to make your closet feel new and stylish again.

Ladies, start your engines and get shopping—or renting (wink, wink)!

Challenge #2: Fab Rehab—Refreshing Your Kitchen!

In order to know me, you have to know that the most influential person in my life is Jean Nelson, my Mamaw, who passed away in 2003.  Along with being brilliant and strong, she also had great style.

She had so many great pieces that were given to me when she passed away. But like most people who've been given treasures by loved ones, I haven’t been sure how exactly to use them in my daily life—and so they lie around the house collecting dust.

My challenge to the girls this week is to take a kitchen item that we no longer use and give it a refresh into something new!

Cheers,
