Mad About Appetizer Plates!

Snack boards, dessert boards, salad boardsif you haven’t been bombarded with things presented on a slab of wood yet, just give it a minute...

That being said, delicately arranging a random assortment of hearty dinner-esque foods for my family on a Tuesday night is not going to happen.

But since we are talking about having friends over and watching some basketball, I felt like an appetizer board might be the perfect thing to tackle.

There is not much I love more than a good cheese board, but I have to admit that mine have always been lacking a bit of pizzazz.

So I decided to look closely at a number of cheese boards on Pinterest in an attempt to figure out why theirs always just look so inviting.

What I discovered is you need a lot of different items, you need to push them all up against each other, and you need to include some bowls and some bigger items (like a block of cheese).

Now the only problem with this is that if I buy 20 different foods and half of each doesn’t get eaten, that’s a whole lot of random stuff that might end up going bad in my fridge.

So I took to the bulk olive aisle and got a little bit of this and a little bit of that...

I found some bulk dried fruits and nuts and was also able to get just a quarter to a half cup of each.

I did buy some blocks of cheese and some fruit, but the rest of what I used were really things I already had in my fridge.

I pulled out some jam and some leftover pesto, found a couple of baby carrots, and was able to use up the last little bit of hummus from a jar.

In the end it wasn’t expensive and by simply smooshing it all together, it came out looking Pinterest-worthy.

Go me!

I mean...Go Team!
